The Richfield Wildcats fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Ogden Tigers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to the Tigers. While losing is never fun, Richfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Ogden is ranked 20th).
Despite the loss, Richfield still got an impressive performance from Gage Yardley, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds. Jorgen Southwick was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 3 blocks.
Ogden got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Niyol Hauet out in front who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bingham Call, who scored 8 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Richfield and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Ogden, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Richfield will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Morgan at 6:00 p.m. Morgan is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Ogden, they will head out on the road to face off against Juab at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
