Cabrillo had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Hoover Patriots with a sharp 35-14 win on Friday. Considering the Conquistadores have won five games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Cabrillo got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabriel Barraza out in front who threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Andrew Wallace helped Barraza out on the ground, rushing for 97 yards and one score on only 12 carries, while also picking up 36 receiving yards.
Cabrillo is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Hoover, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
