Basketball Recap: Edgewood Academy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Edgewood Academy had won three straight games and Lexie Smith did her part to make it four on Friday. The Edgewood Academy Wildcats skirted past the Chambers Academy Rebels 49-46 thanks in part to Smith, who posted 29 points and eight steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Edgewood Academy's points.

Aubrey Newton was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds. What's more, she also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in January.

Edgewood Academy pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Chambers Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewood Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Banks Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Chambers Academy also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Springwood at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Springwood will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Chambers Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
