Basketball Recap: Briarwood Academy Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Briarwood Academy won the last time they faced Mead Hall Episcopal School, and Mekhi Elam did his part to make sure it happened again. The Briarwood Academy Buccaneers came out on top against the Mead Hall Episcopal School Panthers by a score of 57-48 on Monday thanks in part to Elam, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Mock, who posted 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braylon Fuller, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Fuller has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brooks Abrams, who had 13 points.

Briarwood Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Mead Hall Episcopal School, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Briarwood Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 89-59 win against Alleluia Community on the 28th. Mead Hall Episcopal School has also already played their next game, a 49-48 loss against Augusta E on the 30th.
