It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Wenonah Dragons ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged John Carroll Catholic out 52-49. The win was just what Wenonah needed coming off of a 69-30 loss in their prior contest.
Leading Wenonah to victory were Jakerria Ringstaff and Gabrielle Blanks. Ringstaff dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Blanks scored 24 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Ringstaff's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Wenonah has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for John Carroll Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wenonah will take on Fairfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for John Carroll Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pleasant Grove at 6:00 p.m. Pleasant Grove presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than John Carroll Catholic in Alabama (Pleasant Grove is ranked 23rd, while John Carroll Catholic is ranked 172nd).
