Ady Frantz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Canton got the win against Sayre on Wednesday by a conclusive 19-2. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four matchups by 15 runs or more so far this season.
Raya Preston was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Preston was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Canton let Lucy Proseus and Jaylee Ward run wild. Proseus went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles, while Ward got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Proseus a new career-high. Tara Gilbert also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Canton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Canton's record is now 5-7. As for Wellsboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Wellsboro got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Canton by a conclusive 14-4 score. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
