Ellsworth hasn't had much luck against St. Mary Cathedral recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Lancers will venture away from home to take on the Snowbirds at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ellsworth barely beat Boyne Falls the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Loggers on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Loggers: they've now won nine in a row.

Skyler Seeney made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has become a key player for Ellsworth: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 1-5 otherwise. Seeney was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Seeney is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Cameron Snyder was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Max Muladore, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Ellsworth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while St. Mary Cathedral put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Bellaire. The Snowbirds came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Snowbirds.
Ellsworth's record is now 3-6. As for St. Mary Cathedral, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Ellsworth might still be hurting after the 18-0 loss they got from St. Mary Cathedral in their previous meeting back in June of 2016. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
