Football Recap: Delbarton Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Delbarton won the last time they faced DePaul Catholic and Matthew Tafuri did his part to make sure it happened again. The Green Wave were the clear victors by a 28-6 margin over the Spartans on Saturday with plenty of help from Tafuri, who rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also picked up 51 receiving yards and one TD. His longest rush was for an impressive 64 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

When it comes to explaining why DePaul Catholic lost, don't look at Derek Zammit. Despite the final result, he threw for 266 yards on 19 of 30 attempts, and also rushed for 71 yards on only eight carries. A healthy portion of Zammit's aerial production (131 yards to be exact) went to Mason James.

Delbarton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 22 points. As for DePaul Catholic, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delbarton will face off against Paramus Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for DePaul Catholic, they will welcome St. Joseph Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Green Knights' defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so the Spartans' offense will have their work cut out for them.
