Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. Among the action were the efforts of San Joaquin Memorial's senior Alec Trujillo, an offensive menace who scored six total TDs.
Can't Touch This
San Joaquin Memorial's 55 - 13 win over Madera last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Alec Trujillo. Trujillo threw for 415 yards and five touchdowns. That performance made Trujillo one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Buchanan (2nd in the power rankings) and Clovis East (15th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Buchanan had all the answers against Clovis East, winning 41 - 14. Buchanan was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why.
No Stoppin 'Em
Kingsburg not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Hanford West in every quarter. Everything went Kingsburg's way against Hanford West as it secured a 69 - 20 win. The Hanford West defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 63 points per game), and Kingsburg took advantage of that. At 89 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Tulare Western (5th in the power rankings) and Tulare Union (4th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Tulare Union and Tulare Western both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Tulare Union with eight and Tulare Western with six), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
