Madison Plains has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Greenon Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Madison Plains focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Monday.
Madison Plains suffered their closest defeat since December 27, 2023 on Monday. They fell just short of Grandview Heights by a score of 40-37. Madison Plains has not had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kenzie Vallery, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Claire Mason, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Madison Plains smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grandview Heights only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Greenon waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They took down Triad 66-47. Given Greenon's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Cardinals are ranked 636th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Madison Plains has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Greenon, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6.
Madison Plains might still be hurting after the 57-35 defeat they got from the Knights in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Madison Plains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
