The Springstead Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 63-53 victory over Weeki Wachee. Given Springstead's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Weeki Wachee is ranked 566th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Austin Nicholson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion McKenzie, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Weeki Wachee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isaac Priester. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jean Garcia, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Springstead's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Weeki Wachee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
