The Gateway Gators pushed their score all the way to 70 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 71-70 to Mt. Diablo. Gateway can't seem to catch a break and have yet to win any of their five games.
Mt. Diablo was led to victory by Zaire Albert and Willy Jones. Albert scored 19 points, while Jones dropped a double-double on 10 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Albert has scored at least 25% of Mt. Diablo's points. Taishaun Glover was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Gateway's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Mt. Diablo, their win bumped their record up to 1-4.
Gateway will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bentley at 7:00 p.m. As for Mt. Diablo, they will head out on the road to face off against Tennyson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tennyson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mt. Diablo in California (Tennyson is ranked 233rd, while Mt. Diablo is ranked 752nd).
