Governor Thomas Johnson has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against Oakdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Governor Thomas Johnson comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-23, which was the final score in Governor Thomas Johnson's tilt against Frederick on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Governor Thomas Johnson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Frederick is ranked 13th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zoe Nso, who scored four points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Dakotah Bright Brubaker was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Governor Thomas Johnson struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Oakdale escaped with a win on Thursday against Linganore by the margin of a single free throw, 43-42.
Governor Thomas Johnson's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.0 points per game. As for Oakdale, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Governor Thomas Johnson was dealt a bruising 64-30 loss at the hands of Oakdale in their previous matchup back in January. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Governor Thomas Johnson was down 35-13.
