Megan Gerken made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Erdeljac, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Elise Brzezinski was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Liberty-Benton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Bryan got themselves on the board against Delta on Monday, but Delta never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 16-0 victory. The game marked the Golden Bears' most dominant win of the season so far.
Like Liberty-Benton, Bryan also got a great game from a two-way player: Thea Staten. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 18 over six innings pitched. Staten was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double.
In other batting news, Josey Arnold was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karlie McDade, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Liberty-Benton's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Bryan, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
