Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Miguel Cota-cordova, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Micah Akpata was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Banning Lewis Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Salida and snuck past 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Joseph Bjegovich was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Robertson, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Colorado Springs Christian's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Banning Lewis Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Colorado Springs Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Banning Lewis Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
