The Concord Bears will head out to square off against the Sonoma Valley Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Concord is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Concord is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Kelseyville as they made off with an 11-5 victory.
Max Dashner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for Concord: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-14 otherwise.

In other batting news, Concord let Pascual Palafox and Jonah Oleole run wild. Palafox went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Oleole went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Oleole is becoming a predictor of Concord's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 7-15 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Avery Down, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one double.
Concord was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .513. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Healdsburg typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Sonoma Valley proved too difficult a challenge. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Greyhounds a 4-0 shutout. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Not much got past Max Trexler, who gave up just three hits to keep Healdsburg off the board.
At the plate, Colin Buckley was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. River Gilardi was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Concord's record now sits at 11-15. As for Sonoma Valley, their record is now 14-12.
Concord came up short against Sonoma Valley in their previous matchup back in March, falling 3-0. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
