The Heritage Huskies won the last time they faced the Chapel Hill Tigers, and things went their way on Friday too. Heritage snuck past Chapel Hill with a 48-44 victory.
Levi Beckwith was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was KJ Cox, who scored six points.
When it comes to explaining why Chapel Hill lost, one person who can't be blamed is David Mirikwe . Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with four steals. Mirikwe has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Franklin Johnson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Heritage pushed their record up to 7-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.67 points across that stretch. As for Chapel Hill, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage will take on Athens Drive at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Athens Drive will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 420th, while Heritage is ranked 115th). As for Chapel Hill, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Jordan at 7:00 p.m.
