It was a good run, but the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 53-45 to Delta. Saxony Lutheran has struggled against Delta recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Defeat or not, Saxony Lutheran got some senior leadership from Evie Caruso who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds and Rebecca Johnson who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Caruso hasn't dropped below two blocks for nine straight games.
Saxony Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Delta, the win was the sixth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 2-0.
Saxony Lutheran will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sikeston at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Delta will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Notre Dame at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
