The Granada Bobcats entered their tilt with the Sierra Grande Panthers with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Granada took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 52-22 victory over Sierra Grande. The result was nothing new for Granada, who have now won six matchups by 30 points or more so far this season.
Granada was led to victory by Maddox Coleman and Jonus Guevara. Coleman threw for 118 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, while Guevara gained 111 total yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Sierra Grande to a paltry 182 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Granada's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Cooper Dorenkamp and Guevara who racked up four sacks between them.
Aron Ojeda and Brian Ontiveros certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Ojeda threw for 55 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, while Ontiveros picked up 45 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Granada's victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-2 Walsh and 7-2 Branson/Kim (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.7% over those games). As for Sierra Grande, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
