The Vacaville Christian Falcons will challenge the Delta Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Delta will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Vacaville Christian extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Falcons' defense stepped up to hand Valley a 51-0 shutout. Give the Falcons' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Luke Parrish had a dynamite game, picking up 129 receiving yards and three TDs. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making two total tackles. Another big playmaker for Vacaville Christian was Emanuel Cox, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Cox, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Vacaville Christian's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Anthony Todd with two.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Delta). They really took it to West Campus for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Saints needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Delta found their leader in sophomore Royce Cornelson, who rushed for 136 yards and three scores on only eight carries. Cornelson's longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Delta was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Vacaville Christian's record is now 5-1. As for Delta, their record now sits at 4-2.
Vacaville Christian was taken down by Delta 47-10 in their previous meeting back in August of 2023. Thankfully for the Falcons, Izaya Rubio (who rushed for 126 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
