Softball Recap: Central City Has No Trouble Against Highway 91

Central City's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Highway 91 with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bison, who have now won 15 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Payton Burbach made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Brandes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Addie Burbach was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Central City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highway 91 only posted an OBP of .312.

Central City's record is now 19-6. As for Highway 91, they dropped their record down to 2-21 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Central City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Highway 91, they will square off against Tekamah-Herman at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
