Nicolet had to settle for second on Monday, but James Wirth sure wasn't going down easily. Wirth was dialed in as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He was up against Slinger and has quite the history against that squad, as he also had a great game the last time he faced them back in April of 2024. Wirth has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Coming up, Wirth and Nicolet will square off against Whitefish Bay at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights will be headed into this one with a sizable disadvantage in the rankings (they're ranked 216 places lower in Wisconsin), but they're not letting that get them down.
