De Queen is 0-4 against Murfreesboro since March of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Leopards will venture away from home to challenge the Rattlers at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, De Queen got the win against Hope by a conclusive 14-1. The victory continues a trend for the Leopards in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won eight in a row.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Murfreesboro and Horatio had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Rattlers were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Lions on Tuesday. With that win, the Rattlers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Isaac Kuykendal and Hunter Cox made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Kuykendal tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cox tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kuykendal has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Kuykendal went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Cox went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Kuykendal a new career-high.
In other batting news, Murfreesboro let Asher Howard and Carter Gilmer run wild. Howard went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Gilmer went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Howard a new career-high. Colton Tidwell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Murfreesboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
De Queen's record now sits at 11-2. As for Murfreesboro, their record is now 13-0.
De Queen suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Murfreesboro when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can the Leopards avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
