After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Raines, Yulee was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Menendez Falcons with a sharp 36-12 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Yulee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Timmon, who rushed for 104 yards and two TDs on only ten carries. Timmon got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 56 yards. Jackson Visconti was another key passer, throwing for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Yulee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 217 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August.
Yulee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Shamar Gibbs and Teagan Rebane. Rebane has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last five times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Although Menendez took the loss, they still got scores from Kayne Vona and Jaryius Lewis.
Yulee's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.5 points over those games. As for Menendez, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
As of now, neither Yulee nor Menendez have any future games scheduled.
