Lake Park proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Glenbard North Panthers a 2-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Lancers as they're now sitting on three straight.
The result came thanks to Kaylee Fritzler's shutout, as she gave up just a hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Maya Melendez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Rosario, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Lake Park's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Glenbard North, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-6 record.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lake Park is set to square off against their familiar foe St. Charles East at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lancers 2.1, the Fighting Saints 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
