Grossmont - Hills recap Nov. 7, 2012
Helix extended the longest winning streak in Grossmont - Hills this week by beating Steele Canyon, 46-10. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Helix was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping the Cougars. Troy Starr's team came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
Grossmont's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Anthony Lawrence threw for 377 and six touchdowns and Christian Brooks had 103 yards receiving. On the ground Marlon Lampart chipped in 57 yards. Jt Barnes helped Grossmont's passing attack out by catching six balls for 102 yards.
The Foothillers' Lawrence and Jeff Bowers have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lawrence has thrown for 2807 yards this season, while Bowers, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 47 catches for 735 yards. Eric Seaboch from West Hills leads the league in rushing with 699 yards.
Grossmont moved up to 105 from 138 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Thomas Karlo's team climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Wolf Pack 55-17.
