The Lawrence Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 68-19 loss at the hands of Marcellus. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lawrence has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Lawrence saw an underclassman step up: Alex Gardner scored four points along with six rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Gardner posted two or more blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lawrence struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Lawrence's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-7. As for Marcellus, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Lawrence won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cassopolis at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Cassopolis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Thursday. As for Marcellus, they will head out on the road to challenge Buchanan at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
