St. Joseph (Metuchen, N.J.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 16-7 win over
Colonia (N.J.).
The Falcons scored six points in the first quarter. St. Joseph scored on a rushing touchdown.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter, SJ led 9-0 at the half.
The Metuchen school saw its 9-point halftime lead fall to two entering the fourth.
Colonia's lone touchdown came on a 28-yard run by
Sam Pero in the third quarter.
The defeat comes as a step back for Colonia, who notched a 35-7 victory over Kennedy Memorial in its previous outing. The loss ended Colonia's two-game winning streak.
Colonia (2-1) will play a Greater Middlesex - White game against New Brunswick next week, while St. Joseph (2-0) will take on Kennedy Memorial also in a Greater Middlesex - White game.
