The Las Plumas Thunderbirds were the 72-63 winner over the Fortuna Huskies when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Las Plumas received a tough blow on Monday as they fell 57-43 to the Huskies. Las Plumas was down 48-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Las Plumas still got an impressive performance from Aiden Hancock, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Hancock grabbed two or more steals. Elijah Laster was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Las Plumas' loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Fortuna, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Las Plumas will take on the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Orland is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Fortuna, they will be playing at home against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Del Norte will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 844th, while the Huskies are ranked 298th).
