Basketball Recap: Oxford's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Oxford strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the Handley Tigers with a sharp 54-30 win. The Yellow Jackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 24 points or more this season.

TaKayvia Boyd produced another solid performance shooting 62% from the field to rack up 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Pashiya Jenkins, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Oxford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Oxford's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Handley, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Oxford will take on Auburn in a tournament on Tuesday. As for Handley, they will welcome Smiths Station at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
