It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Peach County Trojans ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They secured a 68-62 W over Upson-Lee. Winning may never get old, but Peach County sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Peach County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marissa Melendez, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Melendez scored 15 or more points. Uzzhia (uzi) rumph was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Peach County's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Upson-Lee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peach County will challenge the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pike County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 384th, while the Trojans are ranked 135th). As for Upson-Lee, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mary Persons is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
