Andrews is a perfect 10-0 against Lake View since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will square off against the Chiefs/Maidens at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Andrews earned a 33-23 win over Pecos. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Beau Hudson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 133 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in August. Blas Hernandez was another key back, rushing for 78 yards and one score on only ten carries.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake View). They claimed a resounding 76-49 victory over Big Spring. Considering the Chiefs/Maidens have won five contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Andrews better keep an eye on Izaiah Rios. He was instrumental in Lake View's win, rushing for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also picking up 62 receiving yards. Rios really tore up the turf during one magnificent 85-yard run. Braylon White was in the mix too, providing Lake View with four TDs.
Lake View was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 166 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.
Lake View didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Juan Ramirez and Cristian Esparza.
Andrews' record is now 4-5. As for Lake View, their record now sits at 7-2.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: JaeSean DeBouse and Rios. DeBouse just won't slow down this season and has run in 12 touchdowns while averaging 95.4 rushing yards per game. Rios has been a dominant force too and has run in 17 touchdowns while averaging 148.8 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Andrews against Lake View in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 65-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
