Even though the Saint Mary's Panthers scored an imposing 66 points on Wednesday, the Pinole Valley Spartans still came out on top. Pinole Valley had just enough and edged Saint Mary's out 69-66. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Pinole Valley has posted since January 12th.
Pinole Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chriseanie Nealy, who scored 26 points. Nealy has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Romyn Waugh, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Pinole Valley's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-15. As for Saint Mary's, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season.
Pinole Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Saint Mary's also has no future games currently scheduled.
