Sunlake has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Sunlake Seahawks and the North Tampa Christian Academy Titans will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sunlake can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 73-49 margin over Steinbrenner. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Sunlake has posted since December 13, 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Nelson Marshall, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Manntavius Goodman, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, North Tampa Christian Academy entered their tilt with Bishop Verot with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. North Tampa Christian Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-59 win over Bishop Verot on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Tampa Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Toni Bryant, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Bryant is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Landyn Colyer was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Sunlake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for North Tampa Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 20-2.
