GlenOak hasn't had much luck against Hoover recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. The last three games GlenOak has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Friday, GlenOak needed a bit of extra time to put away Berea-Midpark. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Titans, sneaking past 3-2. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Golden Eagles have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
GlenOak got a great performance from Bryson Peffer as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kyle Moff, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Logan Kozma also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Hoover earned a 5-2 win over Medina on Friday.
Jack Andes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Danny Holihan looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
Andes wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Lukens, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
GlenOak's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Hoover, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
GlenOak suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Hoover in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
