Croatan is 8-2 against Swansboro since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will take on the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Croatan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Croatan easily dispatched Richlands on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Cougars fell just short of Jacksonville by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday.
Croatan got a big performance out of Easton Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Weston Thomas, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Swansboro won against West Carteret on Thursday with two runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Pirates beat Dixon by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. The victory was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on four straight.
Nick Quinones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Swansboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Scott, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Dean Germosen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
