The Island Coast Gators will challenge the Golden Gate Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Island Coast's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Golden Gate's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, Island Coast didn't have quite enough to beat Charlotte and fell 3-2.
Island Coast saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Archer Ellis, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, while it was Golden Gate who put the first points on the board on Monday, it was Bonita Springs who put up more. Golden Gate came up short against Bonita Springs, falling 13-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Bullsharks: they've now lost three in a row.
Marlon Cancio made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Eli Rodriguez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.
Even though they lost, Golden Gate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post 11 or more hits.
Golden Gate's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Island Coast, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
Golden Gate's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Island Coast hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. It's a different story for Golden Gate, though, as they've only averaged .246. Will they be able to contain Island Coast's hitters?
Island Coast took their win against Golden Gate in their previous meeting back in May of 2019 by a conclusive 10-1. Will Island Coast repeat their success, or does Golden Gate have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
