The Stephenville FAITH Knights are taking a road trip to face off against the Santo Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stephenville FAITH has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
While Stephenville FAITH's victory against Azle Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Fighting Crusaders 17-16.
Charlee Frazier made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Frazier was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Carly Popp was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Amelia Locke also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Stephenville FAITH kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Santo entered their tilt with Huckabay on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Stephenville FAITH, Santo also got a great game from a two-way player: Maddie Koonce. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Koonce was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Santo let Kamryn Castillo and Maddie Griffith run wild. Castillo scored three runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-4, while Griffith scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Macee DoByns was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Santo now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Stephenville FAITH, their record is now 5-9.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Stephenville FAITH hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Santo struggles in that department as they've averaged .406. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
