The Tolono Unity Rockets will square off against the Williamsville Bullets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tolono Unity comes in on eight and Williamsville on 11.
Tolono Unity is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They pulled ahead with a 21-20 photo finish over Monticello. The 21-point effort marked the Rockets' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
It was another big night for Crewe Eckstein, who rushed for 159 yards and one TD.
Another reason for the win was Tolono Unity's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Player #0, Player #82, and Player #4, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Williamsville won against Hillsboro last Saturday with 53 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Bullets blew past PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central/Greenview 53-14. Considering the Bullets have won nine games by more than 26 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Tolono Unity better keep an eye on Matthew Miller. He was instrumental in Williamsville's win, rushing for 105 yards and four scores on only eight carries. Miller is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Jackson Sanders was another key player, throwing for 133 yards and one touchdown.
Tolono Unity's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Williamsville, their win bumped their record up to 11-0.
Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Tolono Unity has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 177.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Williamsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 213.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Tolono Unity strolled past Williamsville when the teams last played back in October of 2023 by a score of 35-21. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Bullets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
