Basketball Recap: Lily Hildebrand and Isabella Smith Secure Win for Longview Christian

Longview Christian hadn't done well against Athens Christian Preparatory Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Longview Christian blew past Athens Christian Preparatory Academy 48-24. Longview Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Longview Christian to victory were Isabella Smith and Lily Hildebrand. Smith went 7-for-17 en route to 24 points and five steals, while Hildebrand shot 54% from the field on her way to 16 points and six steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Longview Christian's points. Gentry Parker was another key player, putting up three points in addition to ten boards and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Athens Christian Preparatory Academy lost, don't look at Kiley Normandin. Despite the final result, she went 7-for-12 to rack up 14 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Normandin is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted three or more in each of the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Fowler, who posted two points in addition to ten boards and three steals.

Longview Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Longview Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 37-34 defeat against Beckville on the 6th. As for Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, they will square off against All Saints Episcopal at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
