The Milan Indians will head out to challenge the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Milan against Madison as the team secured a 37-7 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-7.

Milan can attribute much of their success to Grant Langferman, who rushed for 113 yards and three TDs on only six carries, and Beckett Langferman, who rushed for 220 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. The Indians are undefeated when Beckett posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-4 otherwise.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Milan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 405 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Another reason for the win was Milan's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Langferman, Zane Richardson, and Kayden Steele, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Eastern Greene had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on South Decatur with a sharp 41-20 win on Friday. The Thunderbirds' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Eastern Greene's win came from a few key players Milan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Eli Engleking, who rushed for 88 yards and three scores, and also picked up 83 receiving yards. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryson Jones, who gained 136 total yards and a touchdown.

Eastern Greene's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Milan, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Milan has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 187.1 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Eastern Greene, though, as they've been averaging only 95.3 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
