Even though the Platte Canyon Huskies have not done well against the Colorado Springs School Kodiaks recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Platte Canyon came out on top against Colorado Springs School by a score of 28-16. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 5 on the offensive boards, as Platte Canyon did.
Platte Canyon can attribute much of their success to Sydney Curtis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten steals.
Despite the defeat, Colorado Springs School had strong showings from Sophia Baldwin, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Xaia Zamundu, who scored two points.
Platte Canyon's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Colorado Springs School, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-1.
Platte Canyon will head out on the road to face off against Clear Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Colorado Springs School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pikes Peak Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pikes Peak Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday.
