With a playoff win on the line, Lakeland rose to the challenge on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Horizon Hawks 60-57. The win was nothing new for the Dreadnaughts as they're now sitting on five straight.
KENNEDY BORDERS was her usual excellent self, putting up 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. TALEAH TURNER was another key player, going 5-for-10 on her way to 11 points and eight boards.
Lakeland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They are a perfect 9-0 when they hit their own glass that hard.
Horizon's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Andrulounis, who shot 60% from the field en route to 18 points. Thanks to that strong game, Andrulounis now owns an excellent 40.5% three-point shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Travis, who went 7-for-10 to rack up 17 points.
Lakeland's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Horizon, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
As of now, neither Lakeland nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
