Basketball Recap: Akiuk Memorial Skates Past Akula Elitnaurvik with Ease

Akiuk Memorial had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Akula Elitnaurvik Tundra Foxes 69-25. With the Grizzlies ahead 36-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Leading Akiuk Memorial to victory were Chloe Wassillie and Amy Kalila. Wassillie posted 19 points, while Kalila had 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jaylene Kalila, who put up nine points.

Akiuk Memorial pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points over those games. As for Akula Elitnaurvik, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
