Bishop Snyder is 0-10 against the Stallions since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bishop Snyder Cardinals are on the road again and plays the Providence School Stallions on February 7th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bishop Snyder had no problem doing just that on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 56-35 margin over the Indians. Bishop Snyder pushed the score to 44-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Indians cut but never quite recovered from.
Bishop Snyder got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Asya Jones out in front who scored 18 points along with five steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Carolyn Caldwell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Providence School entered their tilt with the Lions with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Everything went Providence School's way against the Lions on Thursday as the Stallions made off with a 58-34 victory. Given Providence School's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Lions are ranked 367th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop Snyder is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Providence School, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2.
Bishop Snyder was taken down by the Stallions 64-23 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Bishop Snyder, Ella Ortman (who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
