Basketball Game Preview: Rio Vista Rams vs. Lindhurst Blazers

The Rio Vista Rams will square off against the Lindhurst Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Rio Vista is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 5th two weeks ago. They had to suffer through a 64-25 loss at the hands of Freedom. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-15.

Rio Vista might have lost, but man, Samiah Holley was a machine: she dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 12 boards, and 11 steals. Holley is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa McDowell, who posted ten boards and six blocks.

Meanwhile, Lindhurst waltzed into their game on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They took down the Lions 38-23. While the Blazers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-26), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Lindhurst pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.6 points per game. As for Rio Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Everything came up roses for Rio Vista against Lindhurst in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 47-17 victory. In that contest, Rio Vista amassed a halftime lead of 29-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
