Volleyball Recap: Seven Straight Home Wins for First Coast

First Coast had won six straight home games and MARKAYLA SMILEY did her part to make it seven on Thursday. The Buccaneers walked away with a 3-1 win over the Andrew Jackson Tigers for which the team can thank SMILEY, who had 12 kills, seven digs, three aces, and two blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last four games she's played.

First Coast had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-7.

First Coast got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was PAIGE ABBOTT out in front who had five aces and three digs. That's the most digs ABBOTT has posted since back in October of 2024. KELSEY BOOZE was another key player, getting seven digs, five kills, and two aces.

First Coast's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Andrew Jackson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. First Coast will head out to take on Fletcher at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Andrew Jackson, they will square off against Global Outreach Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
