Forestview has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the South Point Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Forestview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday.
Last Friday, Forestview lost to Crest on the road by a decisive 63-48 margin. Forestview has struggled against Crest recently, as their contest on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Forestview saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Miangel Thompson, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Thompson scored 15 or more points. Tralyn Phillips was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Even though South Point has not done well against Ashbrook recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. South Point walked away with a 40-32 victory over Ashbrook.
South Point got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddie Frank out in front who scored nine points along with six steals. Frank also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Graham, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds.
Forestview's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. As for South Point, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Forestview took a serious blow against South Point in their previous matchup back in January, falling 67-33. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Forestview was down 34-12.
