Baseball Recap: Bayshore Takes a Loss

If Bayshore was feeling good fresh off their 22-3 takedown of Gibbs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bayshore Bruins fell just short of the Booker Tornadoes by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tornadoes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jordan Greene put in work no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Greene wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Diego Villegas, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Bayshore's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Booker, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayshore will face off against Parrish Community at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Parrish Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Booker, they will take on Saint Stephen's Episcopal at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
