Basketball Recap: Holly Takes a Loss

After flying high against South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] on Friday, Holly came back down to earth. The Wildcats took a blow against the Sublette Larks on Saturday, falling 79-44.

Holly's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Drayden Williams, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 19 rebounds, and Leo Mendoza, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points. Williams is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.

Sublette's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Koehn, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jonathan Froese was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards.

Holly's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Sublette, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Coming up, Holly will head out on the road to take on Manzanola at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sublette, they will square off against Macksville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
